1. Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyami Yojana

This scheme is a part of the broader Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana, an umbrella program for entrepreneurship. It is specifically designed to provide financial support to women and transgender individuals who want to start their own businesses.
  • Benefits: The scheme provides a substantial financial package of up to ₹10 lakh. Out of this, ₹5 lakh is a non-repayable grant, and the remaining ₹5 lakh is an interest-free loan that needs to be repaid in installments.
  • Eligibility:

    • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Bihar.
    • The applicant must be a woman or a transgender person.
    • The age of the applicant should be between 18 and 50 years.
    • The educational qualification must be at least 10+2, Intermediate, ITI, Polytechnic Diploma, or an equivalent degree.
  • How to Apply: The application process is entirely online. You can apply on the official portal of the Department of Industries, Government of Bihar. The process involves creating an account with your Aadhaar number, filling out a detailed application form, and uploading the necessary documents.

2. Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana

This is a comprehensive and multi-stage scheme to support the education of girls from birth until they complete their graduation.
  • Benefits: The scheme provides financial aid at various stages of a girl’s life. The total amount provided is ₹40,000 in several installments:
    • ₹2,000 at the time of birth.
    • ₹1,000 upon completion of a one-year vaccination and Aadhaar registration.
    • ₹10,000 for passing the Intermediate (12th grade) examination.
    • ₹25,000 for completing a graduation degree.
  • Eligibility:

    • The girl child must be a permanent resident of Bihar.
    • The benefits are limited to a maximum of two girls per family.
    • The parents of the girl should not be government employees.
  • How to Apply: The application is done online. There are different portals for different stages of the scheme.
    • For the birth-related benefits, you can apply through the official website of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme.
    • For scholarships after passing 12th and graduation, applications are submitted on the Medhasoft portal.

3. Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana

This is a new scheme launched to promote self-employment among women, particularly at the micro-level. It is implemented with the assistance of the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (Jeevika).
  • Benefits: The scheme provides an initial financial assistance of ₹10,000 to help a woman start her own small business. Based on the performance of the business over six months, additional financial support of up to ₹2 lakh may be provided.
  • Eligibility:
    • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Bihar.
    • Only one woman from each family is eligible.
    • Applicants must be a part of a Jeevika Self-Help Group (SHG).
  • How to Apply: The application process for this scheme is primarily routed through the Jeevika SHGs. Women in rural areas can get the application form from their local Jeevika Gram Sangathan office. An online portal is also available for urban applicants.
